Dear UNFers,

Sorry for the delay in accepting pieces lately! I was away in the midst of IRL stuff, but rest assured I'm back and ready to click that great big green button for approval! PLEASE re-submit whatever missed being approved, and I'll get to it ASAP.

Thanks, guys!
As most of you should know, this group is actually called "Unusual Needleworks with Fiber". And, as much as I love needlefelting, it seems like it's firmly traveling into a place that means it's definitely not unusual.

So! In the interest of not having other crafts drowned out in a tide of needlefelting (which seems to be happening here at UNF lately....), I'm considering only accepting needlefelting of unusually seemly quality, or perhaps none at all (I don't like to judge art, man ;m;!).

PLEASE give me your thoughts, guys. If I receive no feedback I'll only have my own opinion to go on.
Hello! I've been noticing that some cross-stitching has been working its way into the submissions folder. Please note that this is a group for the more unusual crafts- there are plenty of places for cross-stitching.

This is not one of those places.

It's not that I have anything against it, and I'm sure nobody else in the group does either. In fact, I do it myself. But it does not fall under UNF's criteria for posting. Any submitted cross-stitch pieces have been deleted from the gallery and will be deleted if resubmitted again. I'll be going through some things just to make sure I didn't miss anything later today.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance,

N!

::EDIT:: Upon discussion with a fellow crafting friend of mine, it was proposed that cross-stitching with original, self-designed pieces in a neatly-finished (framed, turned into something useful, etc.) format be accepted. What are people's thoughts on this?
So how do you guys feel about contests? I'm in China right now, so I have great access to SUPER CUTE and COOL things (that an itty poor college student like myself can afford). The catch is that I won't be able to award (read: send) prizes until I return to AMERIKA in December, but if everybody's down with that, I'm happy to scout out some cute stuff and start accepting and hoarding contest ideas.

I'm also wondering, since we're starting to accumulate more crafters of various types, how people feel about compiling resource pages for their respective crafts of choice! Perhaps, if we're all feeling particularly ambitious, we might consider making tutorials for certain areas of our crafts that we feel are PRETTY NEAT 8D, or maybe are pretty hard and we just happen to be ACES at? (Yeah guys, I'm looking at you all.)

If any of this catches your fancy but you don't want to put it all together, that's fine too. Have any links on hand? Cool resources? Shove 'em at me and I'll slam 'em together up in a blog post for that particular craft here in UNF. Given that I've noticed a common theme within UNFers is "I wish more people knew about X craft", making tutorials seems like a good way to do it, no?

If you DO want to do it yourself, go on ahead! Just drop me a note so I can link up to it properly on the main page. :D

Anyway, hope the fall is treating everybody well and I look forward to hearing people's thoughts on the matters at hand. :D!!!
First off, I know I've been a super-lame admin. However, I'm so happy to see so many talented needle-felting artists joining! Please don't let my super lameness discourage you guys- you are all SUPER AMAZING!!! I'm here now with my own internet, so hopefully requests to join and all that will be dealt with much more quickly.

Secondly, welcome to all you new guys. I'm super-impressed with all the awesome art I'm seeing. There's been a lot of creative stuff going on over this past summer, and while I haven't exactly been actively saying much, do know that your lazy bum of an admin has been admiring all the beauty present.

Last of all, I do have a challenge. We have a LOT of needlefelters- how about getting some other crafting types in here? I know hanatsukuri is a kanzashi maker and Maya-Safiya is an embroiderer, but... looking at our submissions... that's all we have! :O! So, I challenge you guys: help me to find talented people doing OTHER unusual needlecrafts or fiber arts! (Of course if you spot somebody who rocks the needlefelting, send them along too.) Rah rah go UNFers!
